What is Dhamma?

There is an ever-present and ever-lasting cosmic order that is the primary nature of the universal intelligence. This principle is known as Rta in the Vedic tradition. This eternal and imperishable universal truth is accessible to everyone who seeks it.  Once the things of the universe starts encompassing this cosmic order, it become their dharma (dharyati iti dharma). Dhamma is the Prakrit version of the Sanskrit word, Dharma. Dharma is the eternal truth that is experienceable to every seeker across the world. Love and compassion are the beautiful manifestations of this subtle experience.

About us

Dhamma Yoga is a not-for-profit, volunteer based Yoga and Ayurveda centre run by a beautiful, happy yogic community seeking to live a simple, clean, nature-friendly, fulfilled and spiritually elevated way of life!

Our Mission

We are a group of volunteers with a mission to bring physical, mental and spiritual well-being to the entire humanity. We run many projects, initiatives, and programs with the help of our volunteers to alleviate the human sufferings and bringing  good health, peace and real joy to our communities. Yoga and Ayurveda provides time-tested tools to integrate physical, mental and spiritual levels to bring about a profound sense of inner and outer balance. The light of Yoga and Ayurveda in every individual’s heart can bring a real transformation in the their lives that will breed healthy, holistic communities.

Dhamma Yoga Family

Founded in 2011 by Yogi Amit based upon his insight to promote a different kind of lifestyle where every individual can be set completely free to follow the joy that spark the spirit in their heart. Such sparkling individuals will naturally relate to each other with a very different mindset that would be based upon love, compassion, mutual respect, truthfulness, non-violence and non-hoarding. The community that will evolve out of these values can bring peace, security, inclusiveness and abundant joy to our future generations on this planet.

Giving and sharing are the hallmark of a healthy community. In the Yama and Niyama of Yogic tradition, giving and sharing are the beginning and the most crucial part of the Yoga practice. Yama and Niyama purify the body, mind and the soul and without this cleansing, no spiritual realisation is possible. Volunteering is the essential component of Yama and Niyama and has very profound effects on the human mind. Here a person offers their time, labour, or resources for a common good or the higher good and in the process become a responsible human being and an agent of change. Volunteering is the fastest way to attain good karmas in one’s spiritual journey.

Dhamma Yoga has a strong pro-active and committed volunteer base and continued to inspire more people to join in and give their hands for community empowerment and revitalisation. If you feel grateful for your presence and are motivated to give back to the community or want to bring a real transformation in the society, then we welcome you with open arms to join our volunteer team

Dhamma Yoga Initiatives

At Dhamma Yoga, we believe that the practice of Yoga can not confine only within the boundaries of your yoga mat. A good practice is like the fragrance of a flower that spreads around spontaneously.  Dhamma Yoga volunteers reach out to the society to give their hand wherever needed. Here are a list of some of our initiatives.

Free online yoga sessions for seniors

Dhamma Yoga has been offering free yoga sessions to the seniors every Monday for the last two years. Since the pandemic hits the world, this offer is available for our Monday online class to the worldwide public and many people across the world are being benefitted from it.

Pranayama Classes

Dhamma Yoga took this initiative in March 2020 to provide free breathing sessions to the public every morning at 08:30 am to calm people down in the face of  then emerging threat of COVID-19 and helping people building their immunity against any virus attack. These sessions were conducted every morning for the entire year 2020 since March. Later once the situation eased, the sessions were conducted on the weekends. DY still continues to conduct such free sessions often to offer a kind healing touch to the masses.

Free Yoga sessions for the Disadvantaged

DY offers all its classes completely free of cost to the marginal section of the society. Anyone who has recently lost a job, or could not find job, or could not enter in the job market for some reason, are eligible to receive all our group yoga sessions as a free gift. Many people have availed this offer and get benefitted.

Free Zoom sessions those in need

DY offers free zoom session to those who reach out to us for help for their various health ailments, ranging from a general anxiety attack to musculoskeletal disorder, to name a few. If the person cannot afford to bear the cost of the session, we always waive off the entire cost to help those who need it the most.

Events to create awareness about a mindful living

DY volunteers over the years have organised many yoga camps in certain beautiful natural habitats to promote community sharing, a healthy lifestyle, and a deep sense of belonging with our mother nature.

Introducing Yoga at the Workplaces

The stress at workplace often lead to a lot of mental suffering that has repercussions on everything around. The strains of long sitting hours leads to stiffness and musculoskeletal pains. If these stresses and strains at the workplace are ignored long enough then it leads to ill health, poor productivity, and discontentment.

DY helped introducing Yoga by giving free introductory sessions to the employees at various prestigious institutes like Australian Taxation office, Blacktown Council, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Blacktown North public School, NSW Department of Education, Airroads, among many others.

Phone Consultations/ Online chats

Our volunteers are always willing to help those who need help. People call us about their diverse issues, ranging from some musculoskeletal disorders to feeling low. Most of the time, all they need is someone who can listen to them patiently and in that real listening the sufferer heal themselves.

Educating people to eat healthy

DY create awareness among the people on eating clean, nutritious, and plant based food through organising talks in and out of our sessions, retreats, by using social media and through serving the right kind of food cooked under the due care of our community members, free of cost during our outdoor yoga sessions.

Raising funds for creating higher good in the society

DY volunteers continue to raised funds for the noble causes like for Firefighters during Bushfire in Australia in 2019, a Canadian boy needing urgent surgery for survival, supporting a blood cancer patients’ family, to name only a few.
